Over 12 months in 2022, SBTS researched, wrote and developed a 12 module e learning course exploring the histories and lived experiences of First Nations and racialised Deaf communities in Australia. The course was informed by interviews with community members, wider community based research and the gathering of historical information, ensuring the content reflected both personal experiences and broader social and cultural realities.

By bringing together lived knowledge, community insight and historical research, the course created an educational resource examining race, identity, representation, equity and belonging within Australian Deaf communities. Deaf Australia is currently translating the modules into Auslan, making the programme fully accessible to Deaf people across Australia.
